As Compact launches its own kids and YA label Compact Vibe, company head John McKay produces and directs a feature length TV movie for the 20th anniversary of BBC Kids’ most famous character, in a new and heartbreaking incarnation as feisty single mum.
My Mum Tracy Beaker stars lifelong TB lead Dani Harmer, together with Bridgerton’s Ruth Gemmell, and introduces Emma Maggie Davies as Jess, a Beaker for a new generation.
Edinburgh-based DoP Simon Vickery shot the drama, and East Kilbride’s own Conor Meechan edited both the movie and series versions.
